About Gemma
Say hello to Gemma.
Gemma is a 12 year old female Chihuahua looking for the right home to see out her golden years.
Gemma is best suited to an adult only home in a quiet house. She gets along well with her current foster dogs, which are small and older. Young dogs would be too boisterous for her. But she would be equally happy as the only dog.
Gemma has age related arthritis, for which she takes a daily pain relief. She loves to play with her ball and kong. Gemma is happy with a short daily wander around the block for some sniffs. She is not up to epic adventures, but she is happy to ride in a sling if her human wants a longer walk. Gemma travels well in the car and loves sitting in her booster seat watching the world go by.
Gemma enjoys a snuggle with you on the couch and likes to sleep in the bed with her humans. She will also happily settle in her dog bed near you.
Gemma loves her food and enjoys breakfast and dinner. She has no teeth, but this does not stop her from enjoying treats.
Gemma would prefer to be in a home with someone who is home more often than not. She just loves to be wherever you are.
Medical notes
Senior girl Gemma is 12 years old. She has needed a lot of medical work since coming into our care. Firstly she had quite bad dental disease, and unfortunately no teeth could be saved so she has had a dental with full mouth extractions.
Then Gemma was desexed and had a hernia repaired as well as a mammory mass removed. Fortunately it was a benign lump.
She has some age related eye issues so they need to be monitored in the future. She also benefits from a joint support supplement for her ageing legs, and we have found that Metacam has been helping with some arthritis related pain.
Gemma is up to date with vaccinations, flea, tick, intestinal worm and heart worm prevention. She is microchipped.
