About Slater
Slater gets the maximum enjoyment out of life. He is just the happiest soul who brings joy to all he meets. As a strikingly handsome boy with his lush red fawn coat and white cute white socks he will get los of attention. His foster carer describes him as a total CUDDLE MONSTER ! Not the scary type of monster but one who just wants to get all the pats possible and cuddle with you at any opportunity. Not just his own humans but all the humans he meets and charms with his big brown eyes. His trusting loving nature warms any heart.
Slater has found the transition into pet life quite easy. He is toilet trained and knows most of the dos and don’ts in the home. He still may take an opportunistic snack off the kitchen counter if you are not looking and has taken a liking to tupperware containers. He likes to borrow them to take to his bed.
Slater doesn’t like being home alone so he will need some time and patience training him to be home alone. During lockdowns, his foster Mum has been home almost all the time so he will find the transition difficult. He would do well to go to a home where a human is home most of the time or there is a suitable dog to keep him company. Slater has gotten along well with all dogs he has met on his walks but should only share the home with a suitable medium to large dog.
Slater has moderate energy levels. He enjoys his major 45 minute walk in the morning and a shorter walk in the afternoon.
Slater is your loving best friend.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
