Axel ~ 1yr Old Kelpie X BC (On trial 5-1-22)

Axel is a cuddly and energetic 1yr old Kelpie X Border Collie. He is a typical working breed puppy with plenty of energy to burn, and also a sucker for cuddles and attention

Axel is high energy and requires a family with experience with working breeds. He is a very smart puppy and in just a few weeks he has learnt his name, sit and stay. Axel would benefit from a home committed to ongoing training including walking well on a lead and helping him work through some anxiety outside the house as he hasn’t been exposed to much of the outside world yet!

Axel is very friendly with other dogs and loves to wrestle with his foster brother. In his new home he would love another dog to play with and look up to. He has not been exposed to cats or pocket pets. Axel is good with children and sue to his energy levels we would recommend a family with kids older than 10.

Axel requires an active family with the time to exercise him daily, as well as provide sufficient mental stimulation. Axel would love a large backyard, with high 6ft fences.

Axel needs to be welcome inside when people are home, and to sleep inside. He is currently sleeping through the night in his crate.

Axels Perfect Home would be:

- Someone home most of the time - typical young working breed has lots of energy and can be destructive if home alone for long periods

- Dog friendly, happy to live with another dog but can be reactive to other dogs on lead, so will require further training and assistance in overcoming this.

- Can be anxious outside the house, would prefer to live somewhere with quiet streets around for walks

Please do not apply if you are a first time dog owner, have no one at home for long periods, do not have experience with working dog breeds, and cannot commit to Axel for the time it takes to settle into a new environment, and work through a couple of his quirks. This gorgeous boy needs the perfect home to come along and sweep him off his feet.

Axel’s adoption fee is $600 and he is microchipped, desexed, vaccinated and treated for fleas and worms. Axel is currently in foster care in Medowie NSW (Port Stephens NSW)
