On Hold
About Sheba ~ Tibetan Mastiff X Puppy (on hold 28/11/21)
This fluffy black teddy bear is Sheba, a 12 week old Tibetan Mastiff X that loves her cuddles, despite not fitting on your lap!
Sheba and her sister Cinder have been constantly handled and cuddled since they were teeny tiny.
They came into care at just 4 days old , bottle fed and kept nurtured. Now they are looking for their INDIVIDUAL forever homes with a big brother to help teach them. They love the company of their foster fursiblings.
Due to her guardian nature and potential size ( we’ll let you do the research on that ), guardian breed experience essential, especially through the puppy stage to maturity. We will not consider anyone who has no dog owning experience, no large breed experience and no guardian breed experience. We expect all new adopters to do their research on this breed to fully understand their requirements and the 15+year commitment they require.
Sheba is indeed ADORABLE now… but this little angel has the potential to make an undesirable mess if not given the right enrichment and training. Unfortunately no units, small yards or first time dog owners will be considered. She must be allowed to sleep inside or you will be up calling them inside for protecting your home at 1am.
She needs a COMMITMENT to a lot of human and animal interaction while young to ensure they receive the best start to being well rounded and amazing family dogs. This means trips to Bunnings , the beach , train stations, bus stops, NOT dog parks and always on a lead while learning. Due to their high commitment requirements, older children 12 + are preferred .
Early socialisation that continues throughout her life will help prevent her from becoming territorially aggressive (which is trademark of the breed, please do your research before applying for these pups)
Therefore she can not be left in the yard to raise herself while you are at work. This is not meant to be unfair to those that need to work, this is for the future well being of the dogs. There will be a better suited breed out there for you, if your lifestyle doesn’t suit these ladies.
Requirement-
A home with chilled MALE dog, secure / fully fenced yards, being 6ft colourbond fencing (no dog pens/ rural fencing or deteriorated pailing fences- she loves eating wood) and a comprehensive puppy plan will be highly regarded. We have one chance to give these girl the best start to the rest of her life, to make them the most valuable family member they can be and we aim to get it right.
As they are not yet desexed, Sheba and Cinder are only available for adoption to Newcastle, Hunter Valley, Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens as they'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when approximately 5-6 months old.
To apply, please complete the questionnaire and email adoptmefromkelly@hotmail.com with information regarding your experience and puppy plan. We will only consider homes who have comprehensively discussed bringing a new puppy into their homes, and who fully understand the breed and their requirements.
Sheba and Cinder are located in the Newcastle Region NSW, and are not available for interstate or out of area adoption at this time. You can also fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
Sheba and Cinder's adoption fee of $700 EACH includes desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and treatment for fleas and worms.
