About Mason
Mason is happy to chill with his humans. He loves that his foster carers are working from home. One of his favourite places to chill in under Mum’s desk as she works. He’s happy to provide a foot warming service if she gives him the occasional belly rub with her spare foot.
Mason likes his regular two 30 minute walks. He often has a bit of energy left to have a play at home for a little while afterwards. Mason enjoys his zoomies and toys. He enjoys puzzle toys, snuffle mats and loves to rip up paper and cardboard. If you give him a toy in a wrapper, he’ll have just as much fun ripping up the wrapper as playing with the toy. It’s even better with an audience, he loves it if you watch and give encouragement.
Mason is adapting to this pet life very well. He is eager to please and has learnt some basic rules and commands in the home. He is still a little opportunistic though so don’t leave that roast chicken on the bench when you leave the room.
Mason sleeps the night on his own bed in the living room. He is a bit of a gentle alarm clock as he wants to let you know he’s up. A bright hello will greet you when you let him out for his morning wee. Thanks for that, we can go back to bed now.
Mason is becoming more confident on his walks. Initially he would freeze on occasion, unsure of new strange noises. His foster carers have helped him with this. Having treats in your pocket helps. Mason is most comfortable meeting medium and large dogs on his walks and enjoys meeting greyhounds, who doesn’t ? He hasn’t quite worked out what some of these small strange dogs are. Understandably, he doesn’t appreciate dogs jumping or yapping at him. Mason is becoming more comfortable meeting new people on his walks. Being a dapper young man with his Tuxedo styled coat he does draw the attention of folk who stop, wanting to meet him. He is learning to appreciate the attention.
Mason has a great memory on his walks. He’s better than Google maps and knows exactly where all the best places to sniff are, where the tastiest grass is or where someone left half a sandwich last week.
Mason will provide his new home with much affection. There will be lots of cuddles and enthusiastic dancing from this boy who loves his rescued life.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
