About π¦π» Romeo π»π¦
TL;DR β Him: Giant floofy teddy bear/lion hybrid.
You: Experienced, mature, indoor only, single pet home.
Please say a very Squishy hello to Romeo!
Is he the most handsome cat to ever exist? Possibly! π»
Is he the biggest Persian youβll ever meet? Probably! π
Could he be part Lion? We have our suspicions! π¦
Romeo is genuinely one of the most impressive cats weβve ever met. This glorious, big boy came into care through no fault of his own and as you can imagine his family were absolutely devastated to have to part with him. Romeo had lived as an only cat since being purchased as a kitten and as a result he is quite awkward and unpredictable around other animals. While he has gotten on extremely well with some animals in care, he has taken a seemingly random dislike to others. As a result of his social awkwardness and his physical size (therefore ability to really hurt another animal if he wanted to), we have decided Romeo will do best in a home where he is once again the only pet.
This gorgeous big boy is very scent orientated, he loves nothing more than to spend an inordinate amount of time smelling objects in his environment, almost as if they are telling him their story. He loves motorized interactive toys and is mad for a laser pointer! Generally speaking, though, Romeo is a pretty sedate guy, who spends most of his day snoozing. Having said that, he is very agile, strong and determined and wonβt be deterred by things like baby gates/pet barriers if he wants to explore; if it canβt be jumped over, it can surely be knocked down with sheer force!
Romeo isnβt a βlap catβ, he knows where you are if he wants a pat, he might even sleep in bed with you given the chance, but heβs not going throw himself on your lap the moment you sit down. Heβs happy to be with you, he doesnβt feel the need to be βonβ you!
He needed to be clipped when he came into care, not because he was horrendously matted, but because he clearly had too much coat for any cat to manage without ingesting an unhealthy amount on a regular basis. This was confirmed when poor Romeo spent almost an entire day vomiting to pass a 5-6inch sausage of compacted hair, shortly after arriving in care.
Romeoβs coat is going to need regular, professional clipping several times a year to keep the length manageable, as well as daily (and this really means every single day) brushing and knot removal. Romeoβs eyes are pretty good and only need a daily wipe, his nostrils are the biggest weβve ever seen on a Persian, so he has no breathing issues at all.
Romeo is looking for an adult home with no existing pets or intentions to add any. He is seeking a home that is confident handling large cats and has at a minimum, experience with at least one long haired cat. Romeo is a giant teddy bear, who is happy to be handled and enjoys being groomed, but he is a big boy and care needs to be taken that he doesnβt accidentally scratch.
He is looking for an indoor only home. If he doesnβt know leaving the house is an option, he is completely content being an indoor cat and watching the birds through the window. If, however you show him that outside of the home exists, he will fixate on this and become a βdoor pestβ...Heβs not the smartest lad, but in his defence, he is incredibly good looking. π
