About Rocky
Rocky is a gorgeous, funny puppy full of energy and affinity for mischief. His beautiful ears have each a mind of their own and they rarely agree so he often looks both inquisitive and laid back as each ear is doing its thing. His fur is thick and soft and a tiny mohawk at the middle of his nose is always inviting kisses. Loves cuddles, belly rubs and his signature move is presenting his bum for scratch early morning when getting ready for a walk but then also twisting around as he wants his ears scratched at the same time.
Rocky is a greyhound obsessed with balls. Any size will do and he will play by himself or with company until he drops. He has a favourite soccer ball that he grabs and carries around and has been known to play a little game with his human. Rocky would be ok as an only dog if the family provided him with lots of enrichment and playtime. He would also do well to have another medium to large playful dog around.
Rocky loves to go for walks. It is one of his favourite things to do. He learns fast – he mastered ‘sit’ day one and he can sit naturally unlike most greyhounds. He is also great at puzzles and will play with as many toys as he can find. He still has puppy-like tendencies and can get up to mischief and have a bit of energy.
He is still getting used to meeting strange medium/large dogs out and about and prefers slow introductions to them. He has a Labrador friend that he enjoys playing with but it took him a little time to feel comfortable. He has come leaps and bounds in his short time in foster care. He can be a little sensitive to outside noises, such as cars, but this has been improving with gradual and positive exposure.
Overall, Rocky is a character who loves his humans and toys.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
