About Murphy
Murphy is happy being a an inner city hipster. No much phases him out and about. He loves his two 20 minute walks and is even able to jog with you for a couple of kilometres. On his walks he is happy say hello to neighbours and ask for a pat or ear scratch. He is a stunning handsome boy with soulful brown eyes so he will usually get the attention he desires. Murphy also loves to sit with you in the park watching the world go by so is looking forward to Summer picnics with you.
At home Murphy understands the house rules. He knows the command to go to his bed and is doing “touch” training. He knows that the couch and human bed are off limits but might sneak on the couch when you are out. Don’t tell anyone.
Murphy is perfectly toilet trained and is getting used his foster carer’s routine while she works from home. He is a little clingy and doesn’t understand why you don’t need his company when you go to the bathroom.
Murphy will nap most of the day but will have bursts of play. He loves his toys, either playing catch/chase with you or tossing in them the air to amuse himself.
Murphy is calm with other medium and big dogs and has spent some time chilling with friends’ dogs. On his walks he is generally not fussed by other dogs but doesn’t appreciate jumpy or yappy little ones.
Murphy is a happy easy boy but will need a home where his humans are home more often than not.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
