About Venus
Like her namesake, Venus is the Dog of Beauty and Love. She has a plush rich coat and crystal eyes to charm everyone.
Being quite young, Venus still has frequent busts of energy for play and walks. Each morning after greeting her foster dad she will do her first zoomies to celebrate the day. She’ll then settle in to have breakfast and her first walk. Venus loves her walks but still needs some patience when she is anxious about something she sees or hears that she is unsure of. Children’s playgrounds are a bit too noisy for her at the moment.
Venus loves water. She will happily jump into the river’s edge given the chance.
Venus walks well on a loose lead and enjoys her surroundings. She is a little reserved meeting strangers for the first time but if she knows you she will give you a very excited greeting. She is not too fussed meeting other dogs on her walks but hasn’t had much opportunity to spend time hanging out with other dogs yet.
Venus is very goodie the home. She is well toilet trained and understands human food is not for hers. She is happy to entertain herself even if that involves collecting various items to create a stash of treasures on her bed. Venus also likes to find little adventures in the garden.
Venus is happy to nap much of the time whilst her foster dad works from home. So far she has been left alone for two hours without any drama.
Venus’s most important attribute is her love and affection. She adores to cuddle up with you on the couch. Her foster carer describes her as an oversized plush toy, great for keeping you warm on a cold night.
The summit of beauty and love and Venus is her name.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
