About Gigi
Hi! I'm Gigi, Gigi and Mochi are a bonded pair (mother and daughter) who are excitedly waiting for their new home. They can be quite vocal when it comes to dinner time – but hey, aren’t we all!
Originally a little bit skittish - they are getting used to be handled and currently live with a foster family which includes children – so they are getting lots of cuddles and seem to enjoy them. Apart from dinner one of their favourite things is to laze around in their very own hammock. They currently share their home with the family rabbit and they all get on fabulously!
If you’re looking for low maintenance – but yet adorable - pets, perhaps Gigi and Mochi are for you.
Just like all guinea pigs we love to bury ourselves under leaves and vegetation. We love tunnels too. We eat a variety of foods - We are still trying to decide on our favourites, but fresh greens every day are a must. We need to be fed twice a day and our diet also includes hay, pellets and washed fruit and veges.
We’re a bit more heat tolerant than rabbits. At the moment, in the heat of the Pilbara, We go into a safe outdoor cage in the late afternoons with leaves to play and burrow in. During the day we are inside the house where it's cooler.
What else will we need to be happy? A gnawing block, a brush once or twice a week, fresh water in a metal spouted drip bottle and our own sleeping area - with a cover on top. Guinea pigs need their home cleaned every day and their bedding changed every week. We can live for up to ten years. And we make great pets for gentle children.
We CAN FLY TO PERTH!
Flying for a few hours is very important for animals in remote locations because it gives us the opportunity to be adopted. Talk to SAFE about flying me to you in Perth.
