About Neptune - Located in Eltham
Neptune is looking for a home with another cat to share his life with. He takes his cues from other felines as they help with his nervousness of human beings. He would get on well with a cat or kitten who is carefree and playful rather than a dominant type, to avoid any tussles.
Neptune requires an adopter who has experience with cats, as he takes time to trust human beings.
He has been in foster care a year and has come a long way. He likes to be in the same room as his human beings but is still shy when being touched. He will enjoy a good rub around his face and body while he is eating a treat at the same time. He has not progressed to being a lap cat but will share the couch with you once he settles in. He is curious about visitors to the house, and will often be the first cat to check out a new person – from a safe distance.
Neptune is looking for an adopter who is patient and gentle, who will learn to read his body language and continue to encourage him to approach and trust. He will occasionally hiss and mouth or paw your hand as a warning to back off, an experienced cat person will be able to read his body language and know when to leave him be. He is wary of feet, when they move he runs away. He also is afraid of the TV and of loud noises, so if you like to watch loud TV with explosive noises or shouting, Neptune is not the cat for you.
Neptune absolutely loves dinner time, food is his motivation. He also likes to play with cat toys and with other cats. He loves to laze in a sunny spot in the house, or a bed or a cat tree. He likes a routine, a sunny window in the morning, the cat tree or a bed during the day, a chair at night. His daily routine helps him feel relaxed and safe.
Neptune will take longer than usual to settle into a new home. He is looking for someone who is prepared to give him the time and space to become comfortable. This is likely to take weeks rather than days. He just needs time. You will be well rewarded for your patience. He is much loved by his foster family and is an absolute delight in so many ways, once he has had time to adjust to his new surroundings.
Neptune is not suitable for a household with children or dogs.
