About Joan Ferguson
JOAN FERGUSON'S STORY...
"My name is Joan Ferguson. Let me tell you my story... On 20th July 2021, my 5 newborn babies and I were found in a yard amongst the leaves. My children were very young and it wasn't a safe spot to raise them. Luckily for us, AWL NSW were able to take us in for our safety and they had a spare spot for us.
My children and I went to a loving foster (temporary) home where our foster mum helped me raise my kids. At one point, I suddenly got sick and had to go to the AWL NSW vet clinic but I never left my children's side - they stayed with me and I was a very good mum to them.
All 5 of my children (4 little boys and 1 girl) went on to be adopted and then it was soon to be my turn.
I was a little scared of people so I went to a new foster home so I could learn that people are nice. And then... It was my turn. I was adopted!
But 5 months later I was returned to the shelter at no fault of my own and I have been up for adoption again for a long time now.
I was placed in foster again since June 2022, and returned again to shelter and I haven't yet had a single, serious and suitable enquiry to adopt me and my sister from another mister yet 💔
I got along amazingly with my foster carers small dog and cats so if you have a relaxed dog or cats at home, I think we would be good friends. I also sleep on the humans bed and after some time, I even now got along well with the 7 year old human in the home.
I have now been bonded to another cat at the shelter, who has also been at the shelter for longer than any of us would like. We are both long termers here (that what the staff call us) and are so eager to make our way into you new home.
The secret to out hearts is snacks and treats so whilst it may take a while for us to let you pat us, delicious treats will speed up the process.
I am a bit timid around loud sounds and fast movements so I am looking for a quiet home with an experienced cat owner please 😻. When I get to know you, I'll purr 🎶 and bunt on my humans legs and I'll even chirp like a birdie 🦜. I also like short little scratches around my head when I'm used to my humans. I hope to meet you soon." - love Joan Ferguson
