About Wilfred
I'm trying a new home to see if i like it!!
wilfred's story is quite a sad one. Paws received a phone call from wilfred's owner asking if we could take him as he was going to surrender him to the pound. The pound in their wisdom suggested he call us as they are full and had no room for wilfred. He was purchased as a puppy from a pet shop at parklea markets in sydney and, according to his previous owner, was left alone all day and night in the backyard having no human contact except when he was fed each evening. Wilfred must have been such a lonely soul just looking at the fence 24 hours a day with no one to pat him or talk to him. Wilfred needed to be loved and cared for and wasn't so his owners failed miserably in their duty of care to this dear little dog. Wilfred is not his original name so he has been rechristened to start his new life which has done a complete turn around. Wilfred is in foster care with an experienced and loving man who will make sure that he is taken care of in every way. He will not be left outside alone again and will have the company of two other little dogs. He will learn what it is like to sit on a blanket on the couch, to be stroked and talked to gently and taken on walks when he has gained some confidence. Update 20 november: wilfred, with the assistance of his two older doggy companions, has been making up for his lost puppyhood by playing lots of games with them. He is very affectionate and his greatest pleasure is to snuggle up with another dog or friendly human but preferably both! wilfred loves having his chest rubbed and is partial to a warm lap where he soaks up all the warmth and affection he can get. He seems to need a lot of contact with another living being so literally snuggles up at every opportunity to the nearest dog or human. Wilfred will be best suited to owners who will not leave him for long periods of time and he must be rehomed with a young doggy companion. He is becoming increasingly more comfortable with strangers and may fit a family with older children. Because of wilfred's dreadful start to life he must go with experienced dog owners. He is house trained, enjoys playing with doggy toys or the occasional shoe and loves tearing up paper. Wilfred enjoys eating his meals alongside his companions and is a very good watchdog. He is a very well behaved dog and will benefit from some additional obedience training. Wilfred is a house dog and has a coat that will grow and require regular grooming. Wilfred comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and with nsw local council lifetime registration for $350 and is not available for adoption outside nsw. He has also had a recent dental (teeth cleaned under anaesthetic).
