This wee snugglebug has been in care since she was just 5 weeks old and has come such a long way since then. Frangelico is now 10 weeks old and ready to find her forever home. She is an Irish Wolfhound X Australian Cattle Dog and has a stunning brown brindle coat.
Frangelico has just started to walk on the lead with her foster siblings. Currently, she does a lot of direction changes as she discovers the exciting smells outside of her backyard. She is very excited to meet new people and other dogs but is still finding bikes and loud cars a bit challenging. She will need a confident owner to help her to understand that these things are not an issue and will not hurt her.
Frangelico just loves other dogs, and finds comfort playing with and snuggling up next to her foster siblings when she is ready for a sleep. Her forever home must include a puppy friendly and inclusive dog sibling that will support Frangelico as she grows in confidence. Frangelico is very confident around cats, although she will chase after them for fun if they run away from her. Once her foster cat siblings stop running and turn, Frangelico submits immediately and runs away. She loves to snuggle the cats also, in fact Frangelico will snuggle anything that is warm and stays still long enough.
As Frangelicoās confidence grows, she is becoming more and more cheeky. To prevent this puppy cheekiness turning into obnoxiousness, Frangelico will need to attend obedience training classes, or have an experienced family who will commit to training her at home. She can already sit for meals, but needs ongoing work as her brain matures to keep her behaviour in check and her brain engaged. Frangelico is trying very hard with her toilet training, but her tiny bladder just cannot hold on sometimes when she is indoors. She is able to sleep through most nights in her crate, though currently wakes at 6am for a wee and breakfast when the rest of the house is getting ready for work before going back to sleep for a couple more hours.
Frangelico adores children and the fun that they bring. She is learning that hands and shoes are not chew toys, and that pant legs are not for pulling her people along by. Dog savvy children would be an ideal part of Frangelicoās future, so long as her parents are aware that she is still learning and can be unaware of the damage her teeth can do when she is excited. When she is over excited and completely unable to listen whilst playing, Frangelico responds very quickly to a squirt of water from a spray bottle and calms down immediately. Frangelicoās ideal family will include her in their day to day activities so she is not left at home without human company too often. She will love hanging out at cafes and watching her small people play sports, lapping up all the bystander attention she can get.
