* An active, enriched and nurturing inclusive environment
Agnetha ibundle of energy and enthusiasm, and is very ready to find her forever home. She is a black and white staghound x bull arab and has a stunning shaggy coat with a very fetching beard developing. Agnetha is already large for her age, so is likely to continue to grow into a big dog.
Agnetha is crate trained and sleeps soundly all night before patiently waiting for her people to wake up and give her breakfast. She is progressing well with her toilet training, and most accidents are on a puppy pad, usually because her humans are distracted and miss her cues that she needs to go outside.
Agnetha loves toys. She needs to have all the toys all the time and is a shameless toy thief, stealing any toy that anyone else has just picked up. She loves to hoard them in her bed, like a dragon sitting on treasure, there are never enough toys to love. She especially loves noisy toys and will chew on them for hours, often falling asleep with them in her mouth. Agnetha does not get aggressive when other dogs take back one of the hoarded toys, but soon sneaks it back in her treasure mound. Any dog Agnthea lives with will have to be accepting of this behaviour. It is not malicious, she just seems to think it is a fun game for all to play. When told off by her older foster brother, Agnetha quickly submits and finds another toy to play with.
Agnetha loves meeting other things - people, dogs, cats - and is very keen for as many people cuddles as she can get. She is walking confidently on lead on a harness, generally travelling in a straight line, unless fun things are spotted. Agnetha is showing an obsessive interest in birds when they are on the ground, especially ducks and chickens, so cannot go to a home that has poultry and will need to be walked confidently past any wildlife she encounters on lead. She will chase the resident cats for fun if they run away from her, but stops as soon as the cat stands their ground and does not focus on them when they are still, even when at ground level. Confident and calm cats would be appropriate for Agnetha to live with.
Though not essential, Agnetha would benefit from a fun, playful resident dog to live with and learn from. She is a very smart girl, and will need a family who is committed to training and enrichment tasks in order to keep Agnetha’s brain active. She can assist with gardening if bored when left alone, her specialty is re-potting plants or removing tan bark from garden beds. Agnetha loves her people and will need a family who enjoys taking her with them in their daily activities. She would love to visit cafes and support her people at their sports activities, go camping and exploring in the bush or at the dog beach. Agnetha would be a great puppy for children to grow with, however she can nip when excited, so children would need to be dog savvy and fully supervised until both they and Agnetha learn to interact appropriately.
