About Max and Odie
Max and Odie, the gentle dogs
Labrador Rotti mix
For two dogs that had not had much human contact they have very quickly made themselves at home and their preference would be to have at least one paw on you at all times.
To sum up their personalities as they are quite different, Odie is the older, wiser sibling and Max is the cheeky younger brother.
They sleep outside and are inside with access to the backyard most of the day. We have only had one accident inside so far with Odie. They take a minute to warm up to new people but they absolutely love their treats so that helps. They haven’t been tested much with children although they tend to prefer kids to adults they walk past so best to meet all members of the new family.
Initially Odie barked when no one was home and they were left outside but this continues to improve the more they settle in and are less hyper vigilant. They rarely bark when someone is home in fact they aren’t even bothered by the postie or a resident cat that comes to torment them all day by walking back and forth past the front window.
The main area that still requires work is walking on a lead. Walking around the backyard practicing they are fine but outside the house they pull to get home and Max needs eyes on Odie.
They really would make the most wonderful addition to any family they just need a chance to settle in and someone who will continue their training keeping in mind they are only 11 months old. Being big dogs they will need boundaries and consistency with training from all members of the family as they do try and test you but are very fast learners (will do anything for a treat).
The boys are a bonded pair and would love to see them go together. Max definitely needs a home with another dog as he stresses when Odie is not there. They love to play fight with each other and have a preference for comforter toys they can snuggle or carry around in their mouths. Would suit a medium level active family best as they are quite lazy with bursts of playful energy.
