About Dex ~ 1yr Old Bull Arab X(On Trial 5/1/21)
Dex is a very sweet natured and loving 1yr Old Bull Arab X who wants nothing more than to be included in your life. He is very sweet and affectionate but will happily sit quietly in his crate for hours as long as it is located somewhere he feels he is included in the home.
Dex is fine as an outside dog as he spent a long time previously left alone outside so does not have separation anxiety issues however he is a very energetic dog and if he doesn’t work off that energy he is a bit of a chewer and will find something to sink his teeth into if toys aren’t provided.
He loves bones and will chew on them for days but be warned he sometimes likes to dig holes to store them in. He also loves to play fetch and will play tug of war with you as long as you want.
He is well house trained with only 1 or 2 incidents when he first moves to a new environment but he knows that outside time is when to go to the toilet and will let you know when he needs to go with some gentle whining. He knows he is not allowed on furniture but he’s smart and if you give an inch he will take a mile and be on the lounge before you know it.
Unfortunately Dex didn't get the critical socialisation when he was a puppy and this makes him very nervous meeting new people and will let them know to stay away. He is all bluff and usually is rolled on his back seeking pats within 5 minutes but people just need to give him his space when they first meet him. He likes to have a safe space where he can go and chill out and he is very happy to take himself off to his crate for some alone time.
Dex does not get along with other dogs having never been exposed to them and he would definitely prefer to be in a one pet house, that includes pocket pets.
Dex’s ideal home would be with a couple with no children and no other pets who can give him the exercise he needs. A quieter household with low traffic would be ideal so he can become accustomed to his new home and get settled in.
Dex has really only started proper training over the last 3 months and has made tremendous progress but he is still very raw and will need a dedicated owner who is willing to help him reach his potential.
