About Aston
Aston is a gentle hound who just wants to love and be loved. He craves human company and is an absolute social star. Aston with his striking blue coat and soulful brown eyes is your best furry companion.
Aston has a moderate amount of energy and is content lounging around most of the day providing he gets two good walks and an opportunity to have a play with toys once or twice a day. Aston is great at walking on a loose lead. He also adores a car ride, sticking his snoot out the window enjoying the breeze. Sometimes he is reluctant to get out of the car when you’re home. Its too cosy and he’s had such a good time for it to be over.
Aston is very friendly meeting new people, he can negotiate a neck scratch or tummy rub in exchange for a smile and enthusiastic tail wag from him.
Aston is a smart cookie, learning some basic commands and the house rules. He is toilet trained and proficient and stairs.
On his walks Aston is generally chilled meeting dogs but does not appreciate over excited dogs or being backed at. Who does ? Aston has a greyhound friend he loves walking with.
In his new home Aston would be happy to share it with a suitable doggy friendly, particularly if his humans were not always there.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
