About Lucy ~ 4yr Old Maremma X(On Trial 11/01/22)
Lucy, a 4-year-old Maremma x Border collie and yes she is as sweet as she looks. Lucy loves spending time with her foster family, playing catch me if you can (It’s her favourite game), she enjoys collecting sticks, ball and wants humans to chase after her, she loves plenty of hugs and attention and of course going on daily walks. Lucy loves going out and doing actives with family, such as trips to the beach, bush walks and travels easily in the car.
Lucy is a well-mannered dog who can sit, stay, come and learnt how to lay down and shake while in care, so is an easily trainable dog with treats of course. She is also house and crate trained so knows to do her business outside. She is a patient girl who enjoys the attention & cuddles from humans and loves spending time with children, she is a very easy-going girl and has a great temperament. If Lucy is going to a home with another dog or will have other dogs visit a slow and gradual introduction would be ideal to help her settle. She has been known to resource guard with food, so she just need to feed separately to avoid any doggy squabbles.
Lucy loves going on walks however does prefer to keep her distant from other dogs while on the leash so she can enjoy the walk without any other dogs interrupting.
Lucy would benefit from being with an active family that is able to spend plenty of time with her on a daily basis and keep her mentally stimulated. Inside time is also a must, so she feels part of the family. Being a big, strong girl Lucy will need a yard that has adequate fencing, something that is sturdy and a good height. When Lucy was a pup, it was mentioned that she has hip dysplasia, she has not had any issues and this has not kept her from enjoying time with the family, she can run, jump in the back of a SUV and walk up/down stairs with no problem. Having a flat yard, with adequate space and minimal stairs would be beneficial for the long term.
