Athena ~ 10mo Blue Heeler X(On Trial 13/10/21)

Meet the lovely Athena. Athena is a female 10 month old Blue Heeler x Staffy. She is extremely sociable and loves to be around people and other dogs. She is a favourite of staff at her local café.

Athena is full of life and is very active. She loves to go on walks where there is lots of
stimulation to keep her interested and alert or to play tug of war with her rope. One of her
favourite hang outs is the dog beach where she can play and run and splash about. She is
more a paddler than a swimmer.Since coming into care Athena has learned to sit and come on command. She is very quick to learn and very responsive to attention reinforced with occasional treats.

Athena walks well when in her harness however can occasionally get distracted by other dogs and sometimes finds it difficult to ignore them as they pass. She has never been seen to be aggressive whilst in care and only wants to play but may get a little jumpy. She will calm down when directed and is eager to please. She has been found to be very accepting of new people and other animals and would be ideal for a young, active family with time to engage with her. She would be best suited to a family who has someone home either all or most of the time.

Athena is an active and athletic breed who has the potential to scale short fences or escape easily through holes and gaps in fencing. For this reason, we will only accept homes with 5-6ft colourbond or equivalent fencing with no small holes or gaps. 1.3m pool fencing, or picket fences will not be suitable for Athena. She will not be suited to rural properties.

Athena currently sleeps inside in the laundry in a crate and is ‘house trained’ however I believe she would be fine as an outside dog if she had adequate shelter and particularly if she had another dog as company.

Athena is in foster care in Newcastle, NSW. Her adoption fee is $600 which includes current up to date vet work, microchipping, desexing, vaccinations and flea and worming treatments. She is NOT available for out of area or interstate adoption due to the current COVID-19 restrictions. Please consider your location and ability to meet this requirement before applying or enquiring.
