About Gordy
The beautiful Gordy is now seeking his forever home
Gorsy will ONLY be adopted to a breed experienced home who are planning on using him for his breed purpose and have already working Guardians
please do not apply if you don't not as you will not be successful
This amazing pup is a LiveStock Guardian who has started his training to be an amazing Guardian
At 14 nearly 15 weeks he has been well exposed to Chickens, cats and horses and has strong instincts already.
Gordy is true to breed already showing many of the guardian instincts
He is still a playful puppy so experienced owners will understand he is absolutely not at all ready to throw out into the paddock and he will just work lol.
Gordy overview
Gorsy arrived in to rescue some 4 weeks ago after being purchased by a inexperienced person who thought he would be just like a labrador !
For the past 4 weeks this beautiful boy has been on a large property being exposed daily to chickens, horses, cats and other Guardian dogs
Gordy, although occasionally still wants to have a little play with the feathered ladies, can be easily redirected with a stern " Ah Ah" and he responds pretty well. For ost of the time he is just happy to wander around while they do their thing.
He is as breed true a little wary of strangers but will warm up within short time
Gordy has been living with 3 other dogs full time , a Sarpaninac who is the boss and Gorsy is very respectful that he is the alpha male, a 3 kilo toy poodle who he is terrified of as she bosses him around lol and a 31 kilo bull arab who is very submissive and Gorsy takes advantage of this and will steal her food.
Gordy has had 2 sets of puppy vaccines nad has been wormed every 2 weeks since with us.
Food
Gordy has been on a premium diet of Royal canin puppy food and Prime 100 2 times a day with snacks around lunch time
Training
Gordy will sit when asked and his recall has improved
He can also be walked on a harness as experienced owners will know that Mareemas do not like to be handled around the neck by the collar.
Socialisation
Exposed to chickens, cats who has taught him not to even attempt to be friends and other dogs. When meeting new dogs he is a little defensive but warms up quickly
Gordy Will bark at new people until he is introduced and does not like them grabbing him from behind..I would be very uncomfortable for young children to try and pick him up or grab him so prefer a home without small children.
Enrichment
Gordy doesn't need much; he is an easy going boy who entertains with a few toys which is great. He knows he isn't allowed inside and doesn't even attempt to come inside now as when he arrived he had been an indoor dog.
At night Gordy as breed true will bark at anything that doesn't sound like it should be around..
I must say that he is mostly following the big Sarps lead and backs him up all the way.
Adoption Criteria that will not be amended for any reason
An experienced breed home
A home where his training into his guardian potential will be followed through to a full working dog
Seeking a home with current working Mareemas that can guide him as I have found my Sarplaninac has been a great trainer and role model
No interstate adoptions as I must meet you and see how you interact with Gordy
