About Karma
Karma is the best snuggle buddy, and the sweetest pup.
She has bounced back like the fighter she is from a life of neglect. When she was rescued, she was sleeping outdoors in a concrete yard. She was 8kgs underweight, her back was hairless, and she had several tumours in her teats. Despite the way that she was treated, she has somehow managed to demonstrate an unconditional love for humans, and has never shown any signs of fear or aggression towards people. She will come up to anyone, welcome anyone into your home, and wait to be loved.
She is very relaxed at home, but will let you know when she gets a burst of energy and feels like playing with her stuffed animals. She is well-behaved and will usually sleep when you leave the house.
She has limited training, but can sit for food. She is toilet trained, but would benefit from a home where she has easy access to an outdoor area where she can toilet.
Karma has recently undergone a knee surgery to help her walk about. So far the surgery has been successful in giving her the ability to walk again but she will likely need a committed human who can provide her with regular acupuncture or massage sessions to keep her legs good.
She has also likely never been socialised and can appear aggressive towards other animals. However, she has not been formally tested with other dogs. She will need a home with no small children and no other pets.
She needs her short, regular walks to maintain her joint health. She needs to be walked on a lead at all times, and does better when walked during quieter periods of the day when there are less people and dogs on the road.
Karma will thrive in a home where she can have a safe, warm comfy bed (or couch, which is her preference), with a family who can spend as much time as possible with her and who will spoil her with cuddles and attention.
Medical notes
- She needs her teats to be checked regularly for future lumps
- She needs her left ear cleaned daily due to allergies and previous infections
- She is on daily pain medication for her arthritis
- She needs regular acupuncture or massage
Adoption details
All animals are adopted, never sold, and an adoption contract is required in each case.
We generally bring the animal(s) to you and reserve the right the inspect the housing and garden at this time. That marks the beginning of a 30 day trial adoption period.
We are committed to supporting you throughout the life of the animal you adopt, so we are here for advice or assistance where possible. We want you and your new family member to have a long happy life together so we will do what we can to ensure this.
As a guide, the following terms appear in the chicken adoption form that is required to be signed to complete the adoption. Slightly different adoption forms exist for different species but the overall principles remain the same.
1. A minimum of 3 chickens must be adopted unless you have a flock of your own already.
2. The chickens are NEVER to be killed no matter how old they get or if they stop laying eggs - which one day they will do - except for the case of humane euthanasia when all other alternatives have been exhausted.
3. If medical attention is required you commit to taking them to a good vet without delay and without concern for the cost of their treatment.
4. You do not use these chickens to make a profit.
5. You give these ladies the love they deserve. They have come from hell and are entitled to the best you can give them.
6. If the adoption is unsuitable for any reason at any time in the future you will return them to the carer rather than selling them or killing them.
7. They are never to be eaten.
8. Chickens must have a suitable garden area to roam and explore.
9. You must maintain adequate fox-proof housing.
