About Humphrey
Humphrey is your classic chilled grey. He loves to snooze the day away but will spring to action at the hint of a walk or dinner. When you are home he will need to follow you into different rooms until you settle in one room for a while. Then he will enter a deep snooze and trust that you are coming back. Easy from day one, Humphrey was toilet trained from day two, sleeps through the night and usually knows that weekends are for sleep-ins. He may just say hello to remind you he is awake but then he’s happy to go back to bed himself.
Humphrey came to us in poor condition. Thankfully his fur and skin are recovering well and he has been able to put on a couple of kilos. He was also a little shy and unsure of this new environment but now is much more confident and becoming cheeky and assertive to get those cuddles he needs. He has discovered the joy of zoomies and play with toys. Humph is very affectionate and loves to nestle into your lap or arms if you are sitting at the desk. It can take longer to tie your shoe laces as this is a perfect opportunity to zoom in for a cuddle. He has also started goosing his fostercarer, his game following you down the hallway.
Humph is being fostered with an older female greyhound. He is very good with her, respectful of her food and treats, happy to share a double cuddle with her and sleeps beside her often. On his walks he is still a little unsure of meeting new dogs and tends to keep to himself but should be fine with a little more socialising.
Humphrey is a pleasure to walk. He keeps a steady, relaxed pace beside you on a loose lead. He will make the occasional stop to have a sniff or inspect something interesting or to greet new admirers.
Humphrey is a delight.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
