About Milo
*In foster care in Marrickville, Sydney*
Milo is a gorgeous and happy little guy who thinks exploring the world with his special humans is the best fun ever! He's always keen to take a jaunty walk around the neighbourhood, or a long car trip where he can stick his face into the wind and daydream away...
Although Milo tends to warm up quite slowly to new people (and sometimes other dogs too), once he feels safe he's the most loyal companion you could ask for. He craves belly rubs day and night, and races to claim the warm spot in the bed every morning :)
Like all Maggie's pets, Milo is microchipped, desexed and vaccinated.

MY IDEAL HOME: I'm looking for a calm, quiet home without young children, where I'll be the centre of everyone's love and praise! Oh - and I totally LOVE going on adventures with my humans, so I hope you do lots of those! I get a little bounce in my step and strut around proudly as I explore. I also really enjoy having the window down on car rides and watching the world zoom by.
I'm still learning to relax around food, and will need soothing tones and loving words to reassure me that I'm safe. This helps to let me know where you are when I'm eating as well. Given Milo's resource guarding tendencies, it is best to feed him outside and keep his belongings (leash/food/toys) out of his way.
Distraction and shifting my attention work well when I get scared or overwhelmed. I love going for walks and love treats so those are good distraction tactics.
I can scare easily so a quiet home where I won't feel overwhelmed is best! I can startle easily if woken up abruptly which may cause me to be reactive as well as when I'm overwhelmed with too many new people at once.
MY ENERGY LEVEL: Going for my daily on-lead walk around the neighbourhood is one of my favourite things! At the dog park I'm still learning to 'come' straight away when called, but with some extra training and lots of praise my foster mum reckons I'll catch on in no time :) I'm actually happy around other dogs (unless instigated) but I will take some time to settle in and trust my surroundings before I feel comfortable with them.
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: I'll do best in a childfree home, as I sometimes get startled by loud noises. Also, there's the small fact that I like to rule the roost!
While in foster care, I'm learning to ‘leave it’ when kids on scooters zoom past me.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: I do love to approach other dogs and say hello at the dog park! - but I'll definitely be happiest as your only fur baby, as I find it a bit overwhelming when other pets are in my space or near my food area.

Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
Please consider, that a Maggie's Pet is a pet for Life, before adopting.
