PROFILE AND AND NEEDS IN A HOME
Cindy is probably the sweetest dog you will ever meet. With a rough start in life, Cindy had some healing to do while in foster care. Cindy had a very severe case of Demodectic Mange and underweight when she first came into our care. Cindy has been getting lots of TLC from her carer and has now completed her treatment and is mite free, has put on some weight and her fur is starting to grow back and will continue to do so over the next few months until she has her full coat back. No further treatment is required.
She has completely come out of her shell in this time. She went from being very anxious in loud and busy environments to skipping across roads in excitement as soon as she hears the crossing light sounds.
Cindy has flourished being in a home with another dog to help run out her puppy energy. Cindy must therefore go to a home with a similar-sized, relaxed, friendly playful dog with up to 7 years.
Cindy needs an active family to take her on daily walks and adventures and a home with a yard so she has room to run around and play with her new best friend.
She is described as a shadow by her foster mum as she loves following and knowing what you are up to. This means she would suit a family who are home alot of the time as she tends to be cheeky when left alone for too long so will also need a home where she is mentally stimulated with toys and games and the like.
As with all of our dogs access inside and out at all times is a must, Cindy must be permitted to sleep inside in a warm area of the home of a night and be permitted cuddle on the couch of a night time as this is her favourite time.
Cindy needs someone with patience and time. To build trust at her pace and guide her in learning new things. While in foster care she has learned to sit, shake, lay down, stay, come, wait for the signal to eat with food in front of her, and go to her bed on command. She is house trained and getting better on lead every day!
She is has a fear of bridges but has been working on trusting her foster mum in getting over this fear with force-free training methods.
At the end of the day she wants nothing more than to give you love and snuggles on the couch. This girl needs to be spoilt and guaranteed a home where they are committed to keeping her forever!
It's hard not to fall in love with Cindy she is just a delightful young dog who will only continue to improve as she matures.
Medical notes
Cindy like a lot of medium/large breed dogs does have mild hip dysplasia in both hips. Nothing surgically at this stage but her new owner will have to be committed to managing this by keeping Cindy's weight down, supplements, regular cartrophen injections, physio to build up muscles around the hips such as swimming would also be beneficial and limit running jumping
