About Teddy (Big Ted)
š» EVERYONE NEEDS A TEDDY! š»
āHey there! The nameās Teddy, but my foster family call me Big Ted (not to brag but Iām a big boy!). I havenāt been with the Catters for very long but Iām so desperate to find a family to love me. They donāt know my past and I wish I could tell them ā but they do know my future and that would be with a big happy family! Iām shy at first but once Iām comfortable with my family I love to chat and get loads of cuddles. I love a big house to roam and Iām itching to get outside, so if you have a cat run then Iāll be over the moon!
I also love to have other cats around and Iām not bothered by most. Iām pretty easy going like that! There are a few other cats in my foster home and even though I only met them in the last few days, Iāve really come to enjoy their company. I also LOVE the kids in my foster home. I donāt like to be picked up and carrier, but I do like getting a good scratch and a cuddle on the bed or couch. Itās the simple things in life that I want. Hopefully I get to meet a family soon because I am SO ready to find my place in the world.ā
Teddy can live with cats, rabbits, and kids. We are unsure how Teddy is with dogs, but we see him adjusting well to dogs that will give him space and be gentle when meeting him. Teddy suits an average home or a quiet home. He may not cope so well in a louder, busier home as he can occasionally be shy and nervous. We imagine him becoming much more confident once he has settled well in a home.
All adult cats are sent to potential new homes on a two week trial after an initial meet and greet before finalising adoption, with the adoption fee payable before they leave their foster home (to be refunded upon their safe return within 14 days). While adult cats do take longer than this to settle into a new home, it allows a chance to see how the cat is coping with the new environment.

Medical notes
Medical Note: Teddy has tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) which is a viral disease that can interfere with the immune system of the infected cat. As this virus progresses slowly, many cats go undiagnosed and those that are diagnosed can live years without showing signs of illness. Owners of cats that are FIV positive should pay close attention to signs of illness and seek veterinary treatment early to prevent a worsening condition, as the virus weakens the catās immune system. It is estimated that between 14-29% of cats in Australia and New Zealand are infected with FIV.
Important: FIV positive cats must be kept indoors or confined to a secure cat run to prevent spreading the virus which is usually transmitted through saliva entering the body through deep bite wounds. This also prevents them from acquiring other illness and disease. To eliminate the risk of FIV transferring to other cats, TMC Inc. will only adopt FIV+ cats to homes without cats, or homes that already have an FIV+ cat.
