About Carla
Hi, my name is Carla! I'm a 10 month old kelpie girl looking for my very own forever family. I am a sweet girl and I absolutely adore people.
I get a little worried around new things and can be jumpy. Foster mum has been playing all sorts of games with me to help be more brave and she said I am doing an awesome job!
I was meant to work sheep and although I had the instincts, it just wasn't the life for me. Even though work life was not for me, I would prefer a home where I have lots of space to explore and run around. I am good around livestock and am not phased by the cheeky pony I live with in foster care! Being a working bred kelpie, I do have strong herding instincts and will often stalk and herd my dog foster siblings. I have been learning new games, solving puzzles and been playing tug which is great fun and is helping me grow my confidence to try new things! Sometimes I will run around and play with a toy by myself!
I have my own special crate in foster care with a nice comfy bed - at first I was a little worried about going in but foster mum kept giving me the yummiest treats or ear rubs and now I LOVE my crate. I even go in there when I am not asked! I would love a crate or a nice quiet spot in my new home where I can go whenever I need some quiet time. I sleep quietly in my crate all night and I always go outside to do my business. Foster mum says I'm a super girl and with consistent and fair boundaries I will continue to be the best I can be!
Since being in care, I have got to spend lots more time with my humans and I LOVE them all!! I love getting cuddles and just hanging out with them - I even help feed the pony! My recall is great and I come running when called. I love watching the rabbits & goats on the other side of the fence but I much prefer being close to my humans!
I am excited to find my forever home. I am looking for a family who understand the mental stimulation and physical needs of my breed and are committed to my ongoing training.
I would love a home where my new family are around most of the time. A home with another well-balanced dog would be nice but I would also be happy just having regular visits with some doggy friends. Most of all I’d like a family who will love me (quirks and all) and include me in their daily lives.
If this sounds like you, then please send in your application now!
Love and licks,
Carla
