About Bingo
Bingo - Special needs
Bingo is the happiest of hounds. Saying he loves to play is an understatement. It is his favourite thing on the planet, apart from people. He adores people. Bingo walks beautifully on lead and will happily trot along beside you on his walks.
We are looking for a special home for Bingo. He has been diagnosed with Genetic Retinal Atrophy and will go blind in the next 12-18 months. He is currently partially blind but this doesn’t stop him.
Bingo loves chasing his toys, playing in his clam shell pool, and doing zoomies. He absolutely loves going for car rides and going for walks where he can say hello to everyone who walks past.
Being a young handsome boy, he has some energy and loves his humans to play with him. He spends his days foraging for food through enrichment toys. Gumtree greys have invested in professional training sessions to prepare Bingo for when he goes blind. We are looking for someone who is compassionate and happy to continue his training to prepare him for blindness. His new family will have ongoing support as required and will have a complete training plan to assist him with his transition.
Being blind is not always primary sense for dogs, they can happily live with blindness and adapt their other senses to adapt. Being such a confident boy, we feel that he will cope. Bingo is great with polite dogs. He may be okay with a calm dog that would be happy to chase him around the yard and that is okay with his condition. If he is an only dog he will thrive with someone who loves to take him for walks and come up with great ideas to enrich his day. Bingo will need some space at home so no small apartments or stairs. You will be rewarded ten-fold. He is truly a gorgeous and funny boy. BINGO is a winner.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
