About Danny
Danny Boy is an easy chap. He quickly adapted to a house full of humans. He enjoys the company and an ample supply of attention and cuddles. He gets to spend days on his bed with one housemate working from home and there is always somebody home so being home alone is a bit of an unknown. In fact the whole household had to self isolate for 14 days recently. Danny was in heaven and adored greeting his walking team as they came to take him out each day. He was the only one allowed to leave the home ! Danny isn’t too clingy so he may be OK with some training to be home alone for a couple of hours. He is happy to sleep through he may get up to follow you to the loo if you get up in the middle of the night. He will also be there at your bedside in the morning when you get up with his good morning smile and signature helicopter tail wag.
He is the perfect gentleman at home. Good toilet training, knows the basic rules and some basic commands. He isn’t very food motivated so you won’t need to be too vigilant in the kitchen.
While mostly chilled at home he does have his moments of energy, usually darting about with his favourite toys. He will then head back to his bed to have a little rest cuddling the toy.
Danny takes his walks seriously, two 20 to 30 minutes walk is best and he will be alert and inquisitive throughout. He loves to watch what’s going on in the neighbourhood. Danny loves to meet new humans on his walks but can be a little inappropriate by nudging his long snoot in their crotch. Mostly people laugh at his icebreaker move from this strikingly handsome boy with his glorious coat of chocolate swirls.
Danny is a little indifferent to other dogs on his walks. Happy for a quick greeting and then move on. He has had a couple of play dates with a female greyhound. They have had a lovely time together and he is happy to submit to the bossy lady grey.
Danny is a very social and chilled boy.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
