Koda

Koda is a good natured, black and tan Kelpie mix, just over a year old. He loves to run and play, and also loves to use his very alert brain, so he is looking for a home where he will not only have some space and plenty of exercise, but also the opportunity to learn and achieve his full potential as a companion dog.

Koda is basically a big puppy, so he is still quite excitable and has ZERO impulse control. He hasn’t had much experience out in the world as yet, so he has been working with his carer on all the basics, including how to walk nicely on a lead even with distractions around him, which basically means anything that moves (cars are especially difficult to concentrate around). He is very athletic, so he would be ideal for a career in dog sports such as agility or as a running buddy (once his leash skills are cleaned up).

Koda is very dog social, and loves playing with his foster brothers. An active doggy companion who could be a good role model in his new home would be a great bonus, and would be a necessity if he was to be left at home without his humans around. Koda has been content to play in the backyard with his foster brothers while his foster carers are at work, and has not shown any inclination to try to escape or jump fences. He is also fine with the cat in his foster home though would chase a cat if it ran, so dog savvy, confident cats are all good!

Koda is ready to find his forever home now, and is looking for a family who are confident working breed trainers, preferably with some experience with Kelpies, who will be willing to continue with the training he has begun, so that his great potential can be realised. He is not suited to inner city/suburbs life as it just too busy for him. His perfect home will be an active one where he will kept busy and involved in many activities as a part of the family, to ensure he gets plenty of mental and physical stimulation and lots of love!
