About Boof
Boof is a very cheery young chap who will brighten your day. He is a striking brindle hound who gets lots of admiring attention. His soft coat makes for a luxurious cuddle. He loves his bigger morning walks and happy with another shorter walk in the afternoon. He loves a post walk play so a yard to have a zoom in would be ideal.
Boof has a racing injury so does have a limp. He isn’t too bothered by it now but may need some care when he becomes an old man.
Boof loves his walks but does need some patience as he might freeze if there is something he doesn’t understand or looks a bit scary.
He is very happy to meet all the humans on his walks. He is also happy to interact with dogs on his walks but can be disappointed if they don’t share his enthusiasm. Boof is also prone to take more interest in humans with food so watch out on that trip to the bakery. That croissant is in danger if being snapped up if you look away.
As a typical lockdown foster, Boof’s foster family are home most of the time so he may struggle being left home alone too long. His foster parents are trying to leave him alone for longer periods but we expect he needs a home where his humans are home more often than not.
Boof is a happy, friendly goof. We love him.
No cat or small dog applications please.
No children under ten.
No full time workers unless working from home or there is another dog
We only consider applications who compete our Gumtree Greys online application.
When this is done we can make contact to discuss adopting a greyhound and potential suitable greys currently in foster care.
Medical notes
Boof had fractured bone in his right hind foot. It did not fuse well so he has a limp.
Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
