About Raymond
Raymond has taken to pet life in foster care like a duck to water. He was quickly toilet trained, sleeps happily through the night and is a pleasure on lead. On his walks he is very gentle, happy to walk beside you, his best mate.
Walks are a pleasure for both Raymond and you, he’s happy to say hello to all he meets. He has a great memory and will make a beeline to enthusiastically greet anyone he has met before. Ray is very good with all dogs he meets out and about. He is happy to touch noses, have sniff or be sniffed and then move on.
Raymond came into our care underweight and with a shaggy kennel coat. He has now managed to put-on a couple of kilos and his coat is looking much better. He is a handsome young fella with big brown doughy eyes and the cutest ears that prick up constantly checking out what is happening around him.
Raymond never wants to miss out on anything. He will follow you into the next room and keep an eye on you in the kitchen just in case there is a chance to sample what you’re making. He loves food, dinner and breakfast time are his favourite times of the day.
Even though he is quite young, Raymond doesn't have heaps of energy and has been fine living in a house with a small yard. As long as he gets two 30 minute walks, he is happy chilling/sleeping the rest of the day. He does love human company. His foster carers are leaving him alone for longer periods of time to adjust but he will need a home with people home most of the time.
Raymond is a happy easy boy who will brighten your day with constant affection and a regular laugh.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
