About Allegra
The absolutely stunning Allegra is now seeking her forever home. She is a sweet 2 and a half years old Bull Arab x who currently weighs 30 kilos. She is a large medium sized dog - around knee height. Allegra is a sweet, affectionate young girl. She is extremely happy to see you and appreciates all the time you offer her. She loves showing how much she cares and follows you wherever you go and even gives you a nice kiss here and then! It’s an absolute pleasure to spend time with her and makes you smile when she wags her tail. She has a beautiful coat, it's so silky and smooth! We have not noticed any shedding either which is a bonus. One of her absolute favourite things is a good pat, scratch behind the ears and belly rubs. She loves belly rubs. Allegra is a true beauty.
OBEDIENCE Allegra is a beautiful and gentle girl. She is obedient at home and during walks. She listens when you tell her to ‘sit’. She sits down nicely when waiting for her food. If she sees food in your hand, she will automatically sit down waiting! Allegra listens when you call for her. She knows her name as ‘Allegra’ or ‘leggy’. She loves playing in the backyard, she is full of energy. She plays tug of war, runs around the backyard full of life and with her tail wagging in happiness. Allegra can be a bit jumpy when she is excited. To remedy this, the owner needs to be very firm and she will follow the instructions and she will sit down based on this. We feel kids under 12 are not a great idea Otherwise, she is a very gentle and sweet girl. When she does get bored, enrichment is really important for her such as walks or letting her play in the backyard. We found that walks, bones keep her out of trouble.
ENRICHMENT Allegra has great energy, she rarely barks and is very loving and affectionate indoors. She loves her frequent belly rubs and human attention. Allegra will need stimulation when alone for long periods, such as chewing on bones or toys. She will need 2 short walks a day to keep her stimulated. We have been walking her in the morning and afternoon. All short walks. After her morning walk, she likes to take a nice nap. She is extremely quiet when she plays alone and gets super excited with company.
SOCIALISATION Allegra has met a few canine friends on her travels with her foster family. She is very playful but also quite dominant in play, based on this we feel she is better off as an only dog as she can be quite rough so she would benefit from more play dates in a controlled environment There has been a few dogs she has met that she did not like so it's a bit of a hit and miss with her social skills at times . Allegra’s foster family consists of four adults. She has shown playful cheeky affection to all of us equally and is happy to sit or follow us around curiously. She has had several strangers visit him in the backyard and she has always greeted them politely and without fuss , again she can be jumpy with strangers but with firm and experienced control she settles quickly. We feel that Allegra will be best suited to an only dog home until she settles in as she can play quite dominant with others so until she improves her social skills a bit residing in a home with another dog would not be ideal at this point in her development as she is very social we are looking for a home who will keep her well socialized
IDEAL HOME: We feel Allegra would thrive in a home with a family that is home and very inclusive. Allegra would probably prefer to be an inside dog with easy outside access, giving her the freedom to go about his day as she sees fit. Her family will need to invest time in her and ensure she is kept stimulated and exercised as needed. She will need space as she loves to run so a decent yard is required. Allegra isn’t suited for a household with small children. We would recommend a family of young adults and above.
