My name is Masey and I am a loving, happy girl who wants to be loved right back. I was surrendered to OTC my owner was unable to take me with when they moved. I was given all my vet work (Desex, dental, vaccinations, microchip, etc) when I came in, and quickly settled into foster life. I have lived with small children before, and other dogs. I can be a little shy when first meeting new humans, but once I realise you're my friend, I get past my fear very quickly! My carers work full time and I just potter around the yard with the other dogs, sunbaking and napping. I love to play in water and splash around in the clam shell pool we have in the yard. I am one quirky girl; you'll often find me sitting or laying in the weirdest positions, but I swear it's comfortable!
I am a staffy x, fully grown and weigh in at 20kg. I am well house trained and a really easy dog to care for! My ideal home will let me inside at night to be part of the family. I came into care very overweight, so my carers have had to be strict with my treats...however thankfully I LOVE healthy human foods! I like carrot, apple, cucumber, zucchini and blueberries for treats. I am very much an inside dog, who loves to sit on the couch with you while you relax- and I LOVE car rides and excitedly jump in and out on my own. I have been great with the small breed dogs here, and the cats too. I don't show any desire to escape my house yard, and currently live behind a 1.5m fence. I would like to live with another dog where possible, but can be an only dog as long as I can come inside with the family at night.
I have been diagnosed with epilepsy, which only comes on from stress. It seems using a leash on me triggers seizures, which are very scary. My foster carer uses a harness with me to avoid pressure on my neck, and it seems to do the trick. My new owner needs to be a calm and loving person who can be patient with me, and reassure me as I learn to settle into my new life. I will require daily medication also (further information is below).
If you think I would be the right match for your family and can provide me all of the above, please apply to meet me asap!
Medical notes
I have been diagnosed with epilepsy, which only comes on from stress. It seems using a leash on me triggers seizures, which are very scary but very few and far between thankfully! My foster carer uses a harness with me to avoid pressure on my neck, and it seems to do the trick- since doing this, I haven't had a single seizure since! My new owner needs to be a calm and loving person who can be patient with me, and reassure me as I learn to settle into my new life and will use a harness not a collar. I will require daily medication also.
The medication I'm on is Pexion; 1 tablet, twice daily. These meds cost about $3.75/day. It is also recommended I have a yearly blood test to check my organ function (quite standard for a dog of my age, anyway!).
I also take 4cyte supplement; an advanced joint support that stimulates the natural mechanism of joint movement and health. It is given daily in my food and makes a real difference! It only costs 20c/day.
So that's it! $4 a day roughly to have the most loving, gentle-natured girl by your side. What a bargain!
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following:
- Real estate approval
- Fence requirements
- Outside shelter areas
- Other resident pets fully vaccinated and preferably desexed
- The rescue pet's dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed, age
- Enrichment, exercise and training needs of pet you are applying for
- If you have not read our adoption process below in full, please do not apply until you have.
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet. We will not contact you if you do not complete the form in full AND provided the required photos of yard/fencing within 48hrs. Photos may be sent to our facebook page, or email offthechaink9rescue@outlook.com

If you apply to adopt but require us to hold the pet more than 3 days before meeting, we will ask you for a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters. If you follow through with adoption after your meet, the $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC, and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic we direct you to in your area. OTC will cover any treatment needed at our authorised clinics.
Ready to roll? Then fill out the application form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox. (www.facebook.com/offthechaink9)
