About Doug
Are you looking for a best friend – someone that is happy to be in your personal space at all times? If the answer is yes – then look no further – Meet me I’m Doug the Pug!
So I came into care with a few issues (1.) I had a bit of extra weight and (2) needing some surgery to correct my breathing – I used be able to give Darth Vader a run for his money! Now well my foster mum says I’m a delight and she says she no longer has Star Wars dreams of a night time!
I used to struggle walking 10 meters with my breathing (and yeah I know the extra weight) but now I am leaner (still going on the weight loss), machine who loves to run around and play and go up to every dog at the dog park and say hi.
My foster mum says I am one of the happiest dogs we have ever seen come into care, and I have to admit I just love life, I love people, l love other dogs, I love everyone.
I live with a few other foster dogs – some young, some old, some smaller then me (not just in size), and some bigger then me and I love them all (except for really big dogs like German Shepherds or Rotti’s – I may have a slight height complex – so my foster mum just steers clear of them when we are at the dog park or walking).
I won’t do well as a single dog – just cause I have so much love to give and love to play and go for walks with my fur siblings and love to lay with them while we watch tv – but I have been known to simply squish them if they are in the way of me getting to my human for cuddles or I will just step over them to get to you (told you I was a little needy)
My foster mum has said that cats shouldn’t be a problem either – I won’t chase them but I may try and snuggle with them or if they are getting more attention than me I will just push them out the way to get to you.
I haven't been around children much but I’m thinking I will get cuddles and attention so there is a huge chance I am going to be a big fan! Especially if one is happy for me to sleep with them at night – I love to spoon – I’m normally the big spoon!
I love going for a walk especially with my fur siblings (my excitement does mean that sometimes I zig and zag when walking). I love doing park days, and outside time while my humans are with me- but my foster mum does remind me regularly that just cause I’m walking with my ‘furry gang’ does not mean that I am King Kong and that barking at other dogs ‘just cause’ is not okay.
I love when company comes to visit because it means more attention for me – did I say that I was just a happy go lucky boy who just loved life yet??
My ideal home will be with someone who is home more often than not or who works from home – I’m still young so I would like to be a part of my families’ lives. I do sleep on my foster mums bed and this is something I would like to continue with – I mean just think we can snuggle on the couch and then snuggle in bed together (after you have told me how cute I am at least 3 times that day!)
I have a coat that does require brushing – I used to tell my foster mum it’s why I looked fat – she smiled and still brushed me (but said it didn’t really do much to explain the kilos) but she does say I do spread my hair all over the place and one day she will be able to make a mini me with all the hair I shed!
If you think you could make me part of your family & are interested in applying to adopt me, please send thru an adoption application.
** Please note applications will close Monday 20th September 2021 at 5.30pm

All our dogs leave our care with full vet work (up-to-date vaccinated, microchipped, desexed, heart worm and intestinal wormed and flea treated).
Please note - They will not leave for their new homes until they are 12 weeks of age and have been desexed, micro-chipped and vaccinated up to date.
Please note - we are not a pound or have kennels - all our dogs stay in foster carers homes and therefore dogs are not able to be simply viewed - only approved applicants will meet the dogs.
Please Note: We do not hold any animals so please only apply if you are ready to adopt now

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption - proof of your dogs up-to-date vaccination is required before any meet and greet is arranged.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 2 week trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $100) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.
Please also note while this can be a very exciting time for everyone, it can also be an overwhelming time for dogs and we ask that you do try and allow your new family member to settle in their new home and adjust
INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption
AFTER THE TRIAL PERIOD
After the 2 week trial period is completed Paw Prints Canine will send out all relevant paperwork for your new furbaby via email including the transfer of microchip form.
