About Elvis ~ 3yr Old Terrier X(On Trial 21/09/21)
Hi I’m Elvis and very handsome if I do say so myself. I am a 3 year old Terrier X. Who is looking for a very special home who can give me a lifetime of love.
I haven’t had a lot of training or socialisation before coming into care, but my foster Mum says I am very smart and I have come far with my training. I can sit, wait for my food, understand ‘in your bed’, I sleep in a crate overnight, am toilet trained and can use a dog door.
I am dog friendly with other dogs but I am reactive to other dogs when on a lead. This is mainly due to excitement and to voice my frustration when I am not allowed to meet dogs I encounter on our walks. Due to this I need a home that is patient and willing to manage my triggers. This includes walking in the quiet times of the day and avoiding locations where there are lots of dogs around. I do love my walks though, so need to be walked every day.
I came into care with skin infections from my allergies. The infections are now clear and my skin has improved, but the cause of my reaction is not known. My feet seem to be the most itchy, so there is a possibility it’s a grass allergy, so a home with no or minimal grass would be ideal. I am also on a hypoallergenic diet and would like to continue this. I am currently on Apoquel to manage my allergies and this is working well. My forever home needs to be committed to continuing treatment which currently costs $35 a month.
I am an inside dog and I need to be welcomed inside all the time and sleep inside. I am very well behaved in the house, I am not destructive and I just love to lay with you. I love a couch cuddle and will lay on my back for a belly rub and will be snoring in minutes. While I currently live with respectful small children and we get along great, a home without small children would be preferred as I am going to need a home where I and my training needs can be a
priority. Visiting children would be fine.
I don’t like to be left alone I want to follow you everywhere. I stress more when I don’t have
another dog for company and because of this, it is essential there is another dog of similar size in my forever home. A calm dog that is well mannered and non-reactive, that won’t react when I do on walks. I would not be suitable for a home where I will be left alone all day or where that is a possibility in the future. I don’t currently live with a cat, but I try to chase cats I encounter on our walks, so I’m looking for a home without cats.
While I have never escaped my foster carer’s home, I can climb a kiddy gate, so a home with low fences isn’t suitable for me. A forever home in the Newcastle area is preferred.
I have also had an injury in my front leg that hasn’t healed properly, but it doesn’t cause me any problems and I can walk normally.
