About Skittles
Skittles is a handsome boy who knows how to use those big brown eyes to charm his humans. His loving look will melt your heart. He is a cuddly goofball. He loves his hugs and enjoys nudging and leaning into you for full contact.
He loves his pats, bum scritches and if you rub his ears in the right spot he will groan with pleasure.
Skittles gets excited and enthusiastic about anything his humans might be doing. He will greet you first thing in the morning with a hello nudge at your bedside. He will check in on you throughout the day to make sure he’s not missing out an anything.
Skittles is excellent on lead, relaxed walking beside you. He loves his walks but hasn’t always go the energy for a very long walk, he’d prefer two 15 minute walks twice a day. Maybe a trip to the shops with you too.
Skittles is very excited meeting dogs on his walks. He can be a bit jumpy and over-enthusiastic so will need some patience to further socialise with new dogs. At home he is happily living with a female greyhound. He will have the odd grizzle if she crowds his bed and will guard any treat or special toy he may have. He would love to play with her but she tends to ignore his invitations. He will happily play with his humans too and loves to do indoor zoomies but is a little clumsy so may occasionally miscalculate that bounce off the couch.
Toilet training was a breeze for Skittles, never had an accident and will hold on for a big wee at the start of his walks.
Unfortunately Skittles had a corn on one of his pads so is walking in boots to make it more comfortable.
Your house will be tidy with Skittles on duty. He loves to discover toys and other chewable items to test them out. He will shred cardboard and fluffy items so best to keep things out of reach.
With his big brown eyes, fluffy long tail, white tuxedo-like chest and a distinguished greying chin, Skittles will be your dapper and cheery best friend.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
