About Buddy
4.5-year-old Buddy wants to know if you’re ready to be his new BFF.
Buddy is a friendly boy who adores people and likes to say ‘hi’ to everyone. He likes to cuddle and be close to you. He’s also a curious boy and loves to gaze out the window. Buddy’s curiosity extends beyond pondering the great outdoors and he’s also very interested in household items. In his foster home, Buddy tried to pick up just about everything at least once but quickly learned what belonged to him. He’s more of a collector than a chewer and will make piles of fluffy toys in his favourite spots.
Buddy’s favourite things are: ear and neck and back scritches, standing and taking in the views, his squeaky magical unicorn, finding treasures in the recycling bin, and fruit (what a health-conscious lad!).
Buddy hasn’t had much experience with other dog breeds but is friendly with large dogs on walks. He is not small-dog friendly or cat-friendly. In his early days, Buddy would ‘freeze’ on walks a lot and bark, but his confidence has built over time. He is still learning to walk loose-leash and his new home will be prepared to continue this training with him.
Due to lockdown, Buddy hasn’t had the opportunity to interact with children so for this reason a home with adults or perhaps a dog-savvy family with older children only would suit him best.
Buddy has only been left home alone for up to an hour so far and he does have some separation anxiety. Buddy would like to go to a home where he has company most of the time. He’s gradually learning that some ‘alone time’ is okay, but his new home will have time and patience to help him become more comfortable and independent.
Buddy would love to have at least a small yard to do some zoomies but could also be happy in the right apartment home.
Buddy’s ideal forever home looks something like this:
• A home as an only dog, or with another greyhound/large dog pending introductions (given current lockdown restrictions, whether this is possible depends on proximity to his foster home)
• A home where his new humans are around a lot. Ideally, Buddy’s new humans will have time to slowly build his alone time up to a few hours. Buddy could like in a share-house, with a couple, or a family with older, dog-savvy kids
Please no applications from:
• Homes with small dogs, cats, or other pocket pets
• Homes where Buddy would be alone for more than 4 hours at a time
If you think you could be Buddy’s new best friend, please email us at adopt@amazinggreys.com.au.
Before enquiring please consider:
• What your work and social commitments will look like once we are living in a “Covid-normal” world
• The time and financial commitments of welcoming a forever hound into your home
