Fine and Dandy

Dandy is your typical loving, loyal Golden Labrador.
Dandy is around 7 years old, currently weighing 40kg. and still needs to lose a bit of chub! He loves plenty of pats, scratches anywhere, and a good game of fetch.
Dandy is the most loyal, gentle boy who follows you around the house, wherever you go, and no matter what you’re doing, he’s always there by your side.
Dandy is super friendly with the resident dog. They hit it off from the moment they met, and there have been no issues since. They even kiss good morning. Dandy has also been introduced to the resident baby chickens, to which he showed no aggression, but just a few gentle licks.Dandy is a super loveable boy that deserves the very very best of homes,
OBEDIENCE
Dandy is a quick learner and capable of understanding new commands with ease. He will sit, lay down, shake, wait, “get” his toy, and kiss when asked or given a kiss. Dandy responds to ah-ah, no, move and out as well, which comes in handy during cooking time lol.
Dandy has only had one incident of destructive behaviour when he was left alone inside for a short time, which was a small dog bed but otherwise nothing. He was very remorseful by wanting to shake with me and cuddling up to me with his head down!
Dandy is a big puller on the lead until he tires out so he will need someone with plenty of strength and patience to walk him.
ENRICHMENT
Dandy loves his daily walks and it is an absolute must for his long term health and current weight loss.
He will play fetch anytime indoors and out, and will let you take the toy from his mouth or will get the toy if he hasn’t brought it back to you the first time.
Dandy loves his treats which are great for walks, but quality and quantity is of the utmost importance as he still needs to lose about 5kg.
Dandy will need someone at home more often than not, as he thrives on human contact and has only ever been left for short periods.
SOCIALISATION
Dandy is extremely dog friendly and thrives on being around the resident dog. He has not yet been tested with cats or any other animals.
On walks Dandy will pull quite hard to great other dogs and people, however he is gentle and friendly with them and has never shown any aggression, even to the occasional dog who has growled and nipped at him.
The only exception to this is he will growl and bark at some people wearing Covid masks, especially those who have a hoodie or cap on as well.
Dandy also likes to bark at knocks on the front door, although all while wagging his tail.
Dandy is great with children and never jumps, so we feel that children of any age should be safe around him.
TOILETING
Dandy has never had an accident inside and is let out every 2-3 hours, but never tells of his need to go. He holds on really well day and night.
He has left his mark quite a few times inside, most likely due to having a resident dog, however this behaviour has tapered off and rarely occurs now.
SLEEPING
Dandy will sleep anywhere!
By day he loves to snuggle with you or the resident dog on the couch, but will also happily find a comfy place on the floor.
Of a night he likes to sleep on his bed in someone’s bedroom, or on your bed, when invited.
Dandy doesn’t need a bunch of toys or blankets to feel snuggly and secure, but he does sleep with a blanket of a night.
