About Hugo
Hugo larger the life
Big boy Hugo and his brother were surrendered into care for behavioural reasons that had gone on for many years. These darling boys are full brothers (litter mates) and whilst they got on for several years, there was a shift of 'head cat' in the household which is when the issues started. These boys fought aggressively with each other and had extreme toileting issues which is why they must now be rehomed separately.
Since coming into care, there has been no toileting issues and the boys seem to be leaning on each other in this new environment but long term we know that they must go to new homes alone.
Hugo has thrived since coming into foster care. This big boy loves nothing more than a lap to curl up on. He enjoys ‘making biscuits’ with his Ewok-looking paws as well as climbing up on his humans chest to smoosh his face into yours and even lick your nose. Hugo would love nothing more than a loving human to share his love with.
Hugo is a purebred Devon Rex and the long haired gene has really come through with this boy. He was obese when he came into care and has since lost over a kg (and still has more to go) and has also had a full clip as he has been unable to groom himself properly.
Please note he is not a no shedding cat he will shed fur
Hugo has had a full vet check including a full blood panel, urinalysis and a dental. He has been vaccinated and is already desexed and microchipped. Hugo has had a couple of bouts of coughing whilst in care and it is suspected that he may have asthma but for the most part is unaffected and asymptomatic.
Hugo will need a very special type of home to thrive. Included is info below that will help you to know if you could be a potential new family for this boy.
Only cat household (no other cats, we don't want the fighting to start again)
No young children (teenagers are fine, no high pitched or squealing little ones)
A spare room to set up as his own that he can destress and be left to slowly get used to his new home and humans. A large well-lit bathroom or laundry would be suitable, anywhere that you plan to leave his litter tray in the future
Ability and willingness to continue on his prescription diet of CD Stress as well as the use of Feliway diffusers in the home
Willingness to follow advice from the rescue as to how to set up this boy in your home for a long happy future
Breed knowledge/experience so you are aware of the daily grooming requirements
Hugo is a very loving boy that will easily melt your heart. If you think you might be his new family, please send through an enquiry. We expect to receive a lot of enquiries so please be patient with us.
*Due to current COVID restrictions, all meet-and-greets will be done via Facetime/Facebook messenger calls
