About Billie ~ 9mo Kelpie X Cattle Dog(On Trial 20/09/21
Meet Billie (affectionately nicknamed Bizzie) she is an extremely excitable and energetic 9 month old Kelpie X Cattle Dog. She is very affectionate and loves lots of attention. She’s always super happy and always wants to be in on the action.
Billie is an awesome family companion and has the potential to be an amazing family addition. She still needs ongoing training and development, so a home with working dog experience will be highly desirable for this intelligent and outgoing girl. Billie currently has mastered sit, and is working on responding and coming to her name (she responds to both Bizzie and Billie) and she is nearly fully housetrained.
Billie's breeding means she is a very high energy dog who needs lots of exercise. She likes walks, runs, going to the beach and swimming at the lake. She needs a family who is active and able to keep her physically and mentally active. Again a family with working breed experience who understands this will be preferable. No first time dog owners, apartment living or townhouse applicants please, as this will not be the best fit for Billie.
Billie loves other dogs and would really enjoy having another dog of similar size, age, and energy levels to play with. She will not suit a home with an elderly dog as she is very energetic and may unintentionally be too playful. She also loves kids but is still learning not to jump. For this reason, only homes with dog savvy children over the age of 6years will be considered. Billie has had one interaction with a cat and she was quite curious but also scared of it so she kept her distance. She would need further interactions and proper training to ensure future cat relations are positive for both resident cat and Billie.
As Billie is so affectionate and loves people so much she would suit a home where someone is often at home. She thrives on attention and being close to her people, so would also need to be welcomed inside the family home to be a part of your lives. Billie will need secure 6ft colourbond fencing with no holes or gaps to keep her safe.
Billie currently sleeps on a lounge outside in the garage with another dog who sleeps in a kennel next to her as she’s not yet fully house trained. She doesn’t like kennels but will happily sleep outside if it’s warm and undercover with somewhere comfy to lay.
Billie is in foster care in Eleebana, NSW (suburb of Newcastle NSW) and unfortunately due to the current Covid restrictions impacting the Hunter, she is not available for interstate or out of area adoption.
