About Zelda
I found myself at Lort Smith when my previous family could not provide me with the care that I so desperately needed.
I’m a very sweet girl who prefers the quiet life. In the home I am mostly very calm, gentle and love to have the attention of my humans, although at times, I do get bursts of energy and love running around and playing with toys, so will need someone that will be able to provide me with daily walks, play and mental stimulation. I would suit a household where people are home more often than not, as I prefer to be in the company of others.
I can be a little unsure of unfamiliar environments and people, so will need some help from my new carers with building up my confidence. Once I’m familiar with my surroundings, I come out of my shell pretty quickly.
In foster care, I have been living with a young cat that I get along really well with, so I would be happy to go to another home with a cat as long as they had been around dogs before, were friendly and confident.
I am unsure how to interact with other canines, and can be unsure at times, so my new owners will need to work on positive controlled exposure around other dogs.
Upon admit to Lort Smith, It was discovered that I needed cruciate repair surgery on one of my hind legs, so I have been in foster care whilst I recovered from this intensive procedure. As I’ve been crate confined to rest and recover, I’m still building up my endurance on walks and will enjoy more exercise and playtime once I have built this up.
I also have some skin sensitivities that are currently being managed with medication and weekly medicated baths. My carers will have to keep a close eye on my skin until my Veterinary recheck. Because my skin is still under assessment, I will be foster to adopt until my skin is at a manageable level.
I do have some ongoing medications for skin management and to help with my leg, however, the staff would be more than happy to discuss this in further detail with you.
If you think we’d be a good match, please submit an expression of interest form and the staff will get back to you.
