About Thelma
Thelma is a cuddle monster. She adores her cuddles and scritches and being up-close with her humans. She has learnt to leap into her foster dad’s arms so he can catch and cuddle her like a koala. She is occasionally allowed to sneak onto the human bed for a short cuddle in the morning (don’t tell anyone as it’s not normally allowed in foster care)
Thelma is a clown who will give you good reason to smile and giggle throughout your day.
Thelma is a young pup who is still rather active for a greyhound. She needs her two decent walks each day. Thelma will remind you if you are not keeping up with her schedule. She will also need a yard to do her zoomies. Thelma will also benefit from some enrichment activities such as Kongs and puzzle toys. Thelma is toilet trained but needs easy access to a yard to do the business.
Thelma would be happy as the only dog in the home providing there was lots of human company. She is still a work in progress meeting other dogs on her walks as she can be over excited and anxious so will need an owner with some experience and patience.
Thelma is a joyful girl who will provide lots of love and entertainment but does require a confident human with some experience to help her become the perfect adopted greyhound.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
