About Graciela
Graciela came to us in June when she had been found with a traumatic injury which caused paralysis of her hind legs. She needed specialised care while we waited to see if her situation would improve. We were so excited to see some nerve function 5 days later, and she was able to stand on her legs just a few days after that. She improved steadily & has now recovered fully. Our vets don't expect her injury will cause her problems in the future.
Graciela settled really well into foster care and she decided her elevated status as the 'special' girl gave her full rights to the electric blanket. She is the queen and treats the 4 cats she lives with as her subjects, as she surveys them from lofty heights atop the household furniture. She rules with an iron paw and doesn't tolerate any cattitude from the younger cats, firmly telling them to back off if they push her, but she is incredibly tolerant of the gentle elderly cat in the family and even deigns to share her sleeping space occasionally when he wants to warm his old bones. She definitely appreciates his good manners!
She also lives with 2 dogs and although she doesn't choose to interact with them at all, she also isn't worried about their presence. She does seem vaguely concerned when they go near her food, but that's probably because she loves her food so much!
With people, Graciela adores being gently brushed and worshipped by her humans. She likes to be near her people but usually prefers not to be picked up. If she isn't in the mood, she will move away slightly and then sit there, staring and silently passing judgement on you. Or cursing you, it's hard to tell.
Graciela will also use her green eyes to try to hypnotise you when she wants attention. As soon as you look and talk to her, she takes that as invitation to climb onto a lap and be loved on a little. If you stop patting too soon she very purposely lays her head against your chest and occasionally rolls her eyes at you until you give in and give her more chin scratches. Graciela is a quiet girl and even when she 'talks' she uses low tones. Everything about her is understated and she make more of an effort than is necessary. She says she’s economical, we call it lazy (only when she can't hear us).
Graciela would suit quiet household with older children, adults or an older person (because she is good about not getting underfoot and is very gentle) She has been living inside but a window or cat enclosure where she can birdwatch or sunbathe in a cat-safe way would make her happy.
If Graciela sounds like the ideal companion for you, sent an enquiry now because this gorgeous girl won't stay in foster care for long!
Graciela is a healthy cat who has been wormed, flea treated, vaccinated, desexed and microchipped (microchip #956000013193701, source #RE101165) and had a dental and had a canine extract ed. She is available for adoption right now! Her adoption fee also includes her second vaccination at one of our rescue vets.

To adopt a cat from Cat People you'll be required to have a remote or in-person house check done, show photo ID & proof of address, and fill out & sign an adoption contract.
Cats from our group are all are vet checked, flea treated, wormed, vaccinated and desexed before being taken home by their adopters. Additionally, all of our cats have been evaluated for behavioural traits, fed a high-quality diet, and well socialised. Please note: all Cat People cats and kittens are indoor only, this is not negotiable.
We will communicate with you through every step of the adoption process to ensure that your experience (and the cat's) is excellent and that you are confident in your decision to adopt a feline companion. Returns are only accepted due to health issues confirmed by a veterinarian.
We only accept adoptions from people with residency in Australia. If you are on a work or student visa, talk to us about fostering with the group instead!
