About Dusty
Dusty is such a handsome boy and may well be the sweetest loving Kelpie you will meet, he is just a lovely, affectionate, active and intelligent boy who just loves to cuddle up with you on the couch.
In typical kelpie style, he is very dedicated to his human family, a home where his people are around more often than not and can involve him in family outings and adventures is ideal. He does have some level of separation anxiety due to the fact that he bonds quickly to his humans so will need a home that is prepared to work on this with Dusty using force-free training.
Dusty is looking for an active home that will allow him access inside at all times and take him on daily adventures, trips to the beach, parks, bush walks, and the like. He would excel with someone who is interested in doing a dog sport like scent work or agility, where he can use his intelligence along with his enthusiasm for work. Dusty is well behaved in the house and sleeps in his crate of a night, he often takes himself to his open crate during the day for some quiet time.
We feel a home with an existing confident dog who can play and hang out with Dusty would be perfect! He is super friendly towards other dogs and would love to share his quarters with a canine pal.
Dusty is getting used to car trips so a home where force-free training and good associations with the car can be continued is essential. His carer has been working on this and he is getting much better and once in the car settles quite quickly.
A home that will allow cuddles on the lounge is a must as Dusty loves to snuggle up to his humans.
He will need a yard with secure fencing. He is not suited to apartment living.
If you are interested in meeting Dusty, please email us as much information as possible about your home, lifestyle, existing pet, working and exercise hours, etc. to see if you and Dusty are a good match.
