About Sootie (Located in Mt Eliza)
Sootie arrived at the rescue as a 6 week old stray without her mother and siblings, misplaced during the terrible storm we had in back early June.
Sootie was a tiny scared thing with a puncture wound on her back which we believe was most likely caused by an attack by another animal and sore leg which she was not able to bear weight on.
However, within a week of a visit to the vet and some medication, she was fully healed and happily binkying around her enclosure.
Sootie is a very young rabbit who is still learning to trust humans after surviving multiple traumas, so she will require an experienced rabbit home, preferably with no children or other animals. She is a very inquisitive and engaging within the safety of her enclosure where she will come up to greet you and take treats from your hand, however, the next step of enjoying pats is something she is still working on and will take some time and patience.
Her favourite things to do are demolishing her seagrass mat, playing with her toys and burying herself under all the hay in her litter box in order to seek out the best bits! Oaten hay is definitely her hay of choice.
Sootie has a sweet tooth with sultanas, apple and banana being her preferred treats, whilst she tries very hard to eat all of her greens.
Sootie has been desexed, microchipped and vaccinated. Once she has settled in her new home, she might like to meet a nice relaxed, easy-going male for companionship but for now we feel she is best to be on her own so that she can get to know her new family better first.
