Meet Charity, Dandy Cat Rescue’s longest-serving cat. Charity was surrendered to a local vet clinic back in December 2018. Charity had been living rough on the streets before this, and had developed some catitude as a way to survive.

Unfortunately, when Charity came into foster care she was not terribly thrilled with her new home, and it has been a challenge for the reformed street kitty. Charity has struggled with the other foster cats in care, and she was bullied. Charity can be a bit of a drama queen though, which didn’t help her situation. But, after a longer time in foster care than most, we believe Charity is now ready to find her forever home.

Charity is a very beautiful tabby; she is small and compact, quick on her feet and she has an adorably short tail that is permanently curled over her back like a Basenji dog.

The first thing you will notice about Charity (other than her small size) is her stunning bright green eyes. This girl has eyes that capture your attention and keep it there. And it is easy to see that behind her pretty peepers is a highly intelligent cat.

Charity is really funny - she loves to play and she has a quirky personality. Although she doesn’t like the adult cats in her foster home she loves the small kittens, and will check them out as soon as they arrive and gives them lots of advice. But perhaps her motives are suspect as she rushes into the kitten room as soon as it’s feeding time and insists on tasting their food. Just in case, of course.

Charity can still be unpredictable, and if caught unawares she will give you a nip. She has improved enormously over the past few months and is much calmer now and more content with life. In the right home, Charity will blossom. She can still be quite sassy though, so if you are looking for a small cat with a big personality, this is your girl!

What Charity needs is an experienced cat person, someone who is confident they can give this amazing girl the love and care she deserves. Charity needs a home of only adults (so no children please), and no other cats. This girl is ideal to be your one-and-only kitty, and she will reward you with her adoration – but on her terms.

Charity is used to her foster carer’s dog, and generally doesn’t mind her. So she would be fine to go to a home that has a dog - a home that is willing to make sure she gets slow and careful introductions to the small, cat-friendly dog over time.

A safe, secure - and permanent - home for Charity is a must. Charity has been through so much that we need to make sure we give her the very best. As such, Charity is not suited to inner city apartment living or where a move to a new home in the near future is on the cards.
