About Yogi 🐶 Cocker Spaniel (on trial 11/9/21)
Yogi is a 2yo, purebred Cocker Spaniel 🐾. He is a very affectionate young boy who wants to be inside with his family as much as possible. He is a great cuddler and loves to snuggle up with you on the couch. 💝
Yogi Bear likes things to chew, especially bones 🦴 and squeaky stuffed toys. He isn't a nuisance barker. He loves going for walks. I take him for a 20 to 30-minute walk in the morning and the afternoon and he is happy to hang out with you the rest of the time. He needs to have a grassy yard to explore so he isn't suited to apartment or villa living. 🏡
Yogi didn't have any training before coming into foster carer, other than "sit". I've been working with him and I'm very impressed at how eager he is to learn and work with me. I'm teaching him to lie down, stay, come and walk on lead and he is learning very quickly. He is an absolute joy to teach.
Yogi is very much an inside boy. He is housetrained and can use a doggy door.
He is fine left at home alone inside for a few hours at a time but not all day. So, we're looking for a home where there is someone home most of the time (no full-time workers).
Yogi has a beautiful, soft coat which requires some maintenance. 🐶 His coat sheds and needs daily brushing, regular bathing and occasional clipping to maintain the typical cocker spaniel appearance. He is small for his breed and weighs approximately 11kgs so he is a small to medium dog.
Yogi is very good with children but he isn't suited to a busy household with children under 16. He likes small visitors, but might jump on them. He hasn't been tested with cats. Yogi is good with other dogs and could live with another dog, so long as they're not jealous of Yogi getting lots of attention.
Yogi was surrendered to Dog Rescue Newcastle because his family didn't have enough time for him. His birthday is 13/09/2019, so he'll be two in a few weeks. He is a young, active and healthy little boy.
