About Leomie
Leomie if a sweet and gentle goofy girl. She is loving this rescue life full of cuddles, walks, a comfy bed and food. Leomie loves her food so is easy to train. She has learnt a few basic commands that her foster carer can help teach to her forever home family.
Leomie is toilet trained. She will go out to pee when instructed and will come to your bed and give you a gentle nudge at 7am to remind you to let her out should you forget. On her walks Leomie is learning to be a little less zig-zag but the world is just too fascinating and there are just too many people to meet to go in a straight line all the time.
Leomie loves her two daily walks but can tire out so you don’t need to go too far. She likes a game with you at home but is also happy to head to her bed and chill. Sometimes her naps can be a bit too relaxed as it is not uncommon for her to roll and fall out of bed. Sometimes she may just land on her nose and stay there too lazy to get up. Our gorgeous chocolate brindle girl is not always elegant.
Leomie is currently happily living with a female greyhound in her foster home but we think she can also be an only dog providing she has folk home more often than not.
No cat or small dog applications please.
No children under six.
No full time workers unless working from home or there is another dog
We only consider applications who compete our Gumtree Greys online application.
When this is done we can make contact to discuss adopting a greyhound and potential suitable greys currently in foster care.
Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
