About Henry
♥️ GREEN HENRY IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION ♥️
Now is your chance to do something great for someone down on their luck. Henry has had a terrible life and is looking for a fresh start. With someone who will treat him like the king he is!
Green Henry, the darling of Ginger Ninja Rescue Headquarters is healing well from his extreme dental makeover.
Initially some of his sutured areas in his mouth broke down… couple that with being FIV positive, led to a slower recovery than we had hoped initially.
But I can see his last little purple stitch is almost dissolved 😻.
Henry regularly went back to companion animal health centre at Roseworthy for rechecks, and he’s pretty much been given the all clear!
As much as it hurts us we will now start taking expressions of interest for Green Henry.
Only the very best of indoor homes will do.
While Henry is FIV positive he is completely toothless. Fiv is spread through deep bite wounds, therefore he poses no threat to other cats.
We wanted to Thankyou all for helping to get him to this point. Because a of you all Henry will now lead a pain free life.
We love you HenryBoi
Located in a foster home in Port Adelaide.
He’s very affectionate and great with other cats and dogs
Medical notes
Green Henry has a loooonnnnggg story. He has already been in care with us for some time.
He was initially taken to RSPCA in a trap and appeared to be both in shocking condition and unsocialised… ( we now know this is because he was so unwell… he’s really a love bug)
A GNR family member tagged us in his impound photo… who says you can’t fall in love from a photograph!
We have been working with the RSPCA for some time to help out with cats like Green Henry ( Remember Shelby?) . These are animals requiring extremely long periods in foster care, some are palliative…we believe working with other rescue organisations is the only way to help as many animals in need as possible ❤️.
A little about Henry…
When we first took him in he was terribly emaciated, drooling severely, and could barely eat. He had a severe ear infection, he was weak on his feet. We took him to our local vet( RSPCA is a big drive for both us and a sick cat!) and ran blood tests, urinalysis, and a full health work up. Green Henry’s mouth was in shocking condition. Initially we believed he had a chronic infection in his jaw, likely caused by his terrible teeth. He was is no condition medically for an anaesthetic or surgery, so he was treated with antibiotics and pain relief for a month until he could gain condition so we could put him under for a dental.
We ended up taking Green Henry back to the RSPCA for his dental proceedure and desexing. 🙏. While under anaesthetic it was noted he had only a partial tongue, and some of the tissue remaining was suspicious. He had a biopsy taken of his tongue, which fortunately came back as non cancerous at this point in time. It was most like a result of trauma. … trauma from a likely knock to his head ? Hit by car. When Green Henry was struck on the head it caused him to bite some of his tongue off:😿Green Henry’s jaw was also found to be permanently damaged by the trauma. This boy really was in a mess, left to fend for himself on the streets, slowly starving to death because he mechanically could not eat food properly.
When Green Henry tried to eat, he can only get a small portion in and is contstantly starving… so now we purée his food for him. We don’t want him to ever feel like he cannot fill his belly🥲.
A few months after Henry’s procedures Henry would occasionally paws at his mouth as if he is experiencing pain, and makes some unusual snuffling sounds so we took him into our vet at Roseworthy.. Where with the help of proper dental xrays he underwent an extensive dental procedure to remove left over roots and fragments that were missed the first time.
He’s now fully recovered and looking for a home ❤️
